How to Read a Firm Comparison
Similar metrics can hide important differences. Keep these points in mind before comparing the figures directly.
"Max Funding" Depends on the Scaling Plan
The maximum is rarely the starting account size. It usually reflects a scaling target reached through performance milestones. Compare the starting account at the price you would actually pay.
Profit Splits Can Vary by Firm
An 85% weekly split can differ greatly from a 90% monthly split with a higher minimum. Check the payout schedule, minimums, and any split increases after multiple payouts.
Drawdown Figures Need Context
A “10% maximum drawdown” can vary widely—fixed or trailing, based on intraday equity or end-of-day balance. The same 10% limit can create very different risks. Check the drawdown types in the glossary and guides.
"News Trading" and "Weekend Holding" Are Firm Policies
A “Yes” for news trading may still include restricted instruments and limits around major releases. A “Yes” for weekend holding may exclude crypto or apply only to certain account sizes. Always check the firm’s rules for full details, as comparison data is summarized.
Fees and the Cost of Failure
Compare more than the lowest evaluation fee. Consider the cost of repeating it, including whether the fee is refunded after your first payout. Your effective funding cost depends on the evaluation fee and your personal pass rate.
Categories Can Matter More Than You Think
Comparing a futures firm with a retail forex or funded firm can be misleading because markets, drawdown rules, and platforms differ. For fair comparisons, stay within the same category; cross-category comparisons are better for choosing a market segment than a specific firm.
After Comparing Firms
The comparison tool above is a starting point for due diligence, not the final step. After narrowing your options to two or three firms:
- Review each firm’s current rulebook and confirm the details shown above.
- Check independent review platforms and learn how to assess them on the reviews page.
- Contact firm support with specific questions about rules that affect your trading approach. Their response and response time can also provide useful insight.
If you are still choosing between segments, visit the guides hub for a detailed selection guide. The evaluation models page compares 1-step, 2-step, instant funding, and scaling models.
The main directory provides a broader list of firms to explore, while the red flags checklist can help you review key considerations before paying an evaluation fee.
